ATTENTION AUTAUGA COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL SYSTEM EMPLOYEES
Dear School Staff:
The Autauga Education Foundation (AEF) is proud to partner with the Autauga County District School System and work in concert with the system’s goals and objectives to provide support. Since AEF’s establishment, over $375,500.00 have been granted to Autauga County District Schools, providing sustainable resources and community support which may not otherwise have been available.
You are probably familiar with our fundraising projects such as our annual A+ Banquet, Payroll Deduction Program, and Stuff the Bus. The funds and resources raised through these efforts are returned to the school system through our very own grant program.
We invite you to apply for funds this year through our open grant application. The grant cycle will open September 1, 2022 and will close on October 15, 2022, with funds being awarded in January 2023. AUTAUGA COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR PRESENTED BY THE AUTAUGA EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND THE AUTAUGA COUNTY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION.
Do you know a classroom teacher or educational services professional who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference? If so, please take the time to nominate this person for the Autauga County Teacher of the Year Program.
PURPOSE
The Autauga County Teacher of the Year Program seeks annually to honor and recognize excellence in the teaching profession by identifying outstanding Autauga County classroom teachers at a local level.
DUTIES
The Autauga County Teacher of the Year serves as an ambassador for the Autauga County School System, their school, and their profession.
ELIGIBILITY
The Autauga County Teacher of the Year Program is open to any Autauga County District School System certified classroom teacher, librarian, counselor, or other certified individual whose major responsibility is to work with children in a K-12 setting and provide learning opportunities to meet the academic goals and graduation requirements set by the Alabama State Board of Education. Individuals may be nominated by the faculty at their individual school or be self-nominated and must serve in a capacity for which they hold proper certification.
ADMINISTRATION
The program is administered by the Autauga Education Foundation in partnership with the Autauga County Education Association.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
The Teacher of the Year Program is the county’s most prestigious award for teachers. Nominees will be grouped accordingly as either, an elementary teacher (K-6) and a secondary teacher (7-12) and must be full-time.
A nominee from each of the campuses within the Autauga County School System will be selected by the selection committee and will serve as the school-level Teacher of the year and act as a teacher ambassador for their school. These individuals will move forward in the process for District selection. (1) Elementary teacher and (1) Secondary teacher of these local winners will be named the Autauga County Teacher of the Year by the final selection panel and have the opportunity to compete for the title of Alabama State Teacher of the Year.
The selection committee is appointed by the program administrators and will select from all nominees the school-level, as well as district school system elementary and secondary Teacher of the Year winner(s).
Each school within the Autauga County School System will have (1) school-level Teacher of the Year winner, with the exception of the two K-12 campuses, which will have (2) school-level winners to represent the elementary and secondary grades. There will be a total of 16 school-level Teacher of the Year winners selected for Autauga County.
Once the 16 school-level winners have been selected, the committee will select from the finalists the Autauga County Teacher of the Year winner(s). One will be an elementary teacher and one will be a secondary teacher.
